The students will understand that they share their environment with many other animals and will be able to identify many of them.



Animals come in many shapes and sizes, inhabit different places, and live in different ways. Biodiversity is the term that describes the many different species sharing one habitat. Understanding what makes a species special and where and how it lives are important if people are to learn to conserve and co-exist with wildlife.

The objective of this lesson is to learn and identify farm animals and what they produce for the farmers to sell. Lesson Objective: Students will be able to name and identify different farm animals. They will be able to describe what food or product each animal contributes to the farm.

Animals are used for ploughing agricultural fields, they provide us wool for clothing, animals provide us milk, eggs, domestic animals like dogs, cats help humans in recreation. Some animals help humans in obtaining food. Animals were also used for transportation purposes, in the past.

People have used and continue to use animals for transportation, farming, recreation, companionship, sport, and food.

 All animals have three basic needs: food, water and shelter. These basic needs must be met during the time of the year when the animal is present. It is important that the food, water and shelter be arranged in such a way that they are available to the animal.
